YOUR RESULTS ARE IN YOUR RESILIENCE

Hi, it’s Maria!
One thing I say in class all the time is, "Your results are in your resilience." At this point, some of my members could probably finish the sentence for me. It's become one of those phrases that naturally comes out when class gets hard and everyone starts questioning whether they can hold on for ten more seconds.
And in that moment, that's exactly what I mean. Sometimes your results really
are in those last few seconds when your legs are shaking, your muscles are
burning, and your mind is telling you to stop. Choosing to stay with it just a little
longer teaches you something that getting out of the exercise never will.
But that's never been the whole point.
I've always believed that what happens in those last few seconds on the X- Former is a reflection of something much bigger. The resilience you practice in class doesn't stay in class. It follows you into the rest of your life. Lately, I’ve been noticing more and more that people don’t quit because they aren’t capable. They quit because somewhere along the way they decide they’ve fallen too far behind.
You miss one workout and suddenly it feels like you've ruined your routine. You forget to answer an email for a few days, and now it feels awkward to respond at all. You stop calling a friend because life gets busy, and the longer you wait, the
harder it feels to pick up the phone. One missed opportunity somehow turns into six months of convincing yourself it's too late. It's funny how quickly our minds turn a temporary pause into a permanent ending.
We tell ourselves we'll start over on Monday. Or next month. Or after vacation.
Or when work calms down. We wait for the perfect moment to begin again, even
though life has never really worked that way. There will always be another busy
season, another unexpected expense, another obligation competing for your attention.
The people I admire most aren't the ones who have somehow figured out how to
avoid those interruptions. They're the people who refuse to let those
interruptions define them. I've coached enough classes to know that the members who see the biggest changes aren't the ones who never miss a workout. They're the ones who walk back through the door after they do.Sometimes they 're gone for a week. Sometimes it's a month. Sometimes they walk in apologizing, explaining everything that got in the way. I always smile because the explanation was never the important part.
The important part is that they came back. I think resilience gets misunderstood because we imagine it as this dramatic quality. We picture someone pushing through impossible odds or refusing to quit in some movie-worthy moment. But most resilience isn't dramatic at all. Most resilience is ordinary.
It's trying again after a bad meeting instead of deciding you're not good at your
job. It's making the reservation you've been putting off because everyone's schedules are impossible to coordinate. It's applying for the position even though you're not sure you'll get it. It's walking back into class after feeling like you've lost all your progress.
No one claps for those moments.
Most people won't even know they happened.
But those are the moments that quietly shape a life. That's why I say, "Your results are in your resilience."
Yes, I'm talking about the hold you're in. I'm asking you to stay with the discomfort because that's where growth begins. But I'm also talking about what happens tomorrow, next week, and six months from now. Because your life won't be defined by the days everything went according to plan. It will be defined by what you did after they didn't.
Your results were never found in one perfect workout.
They've always been found in your willingness to come back.
