IT’S NOT SUPPOSED TO GET EASIER

Hi, it’s Maria!


This is one of the most common questions I get, and it almost always comes at the same moment. Right after class, when someone is catching their breath, slightly shaking, and trying to decide how they feel about what just happened.


“When does it get easier?”

And I always give the same answer.

It doesn’t. You just get stronger.


There is usually a pause after I say that. A moment where people are not sure if that is reassuring or slightly offensive. Because I think most people come into fitness expecting a turning point. A moment where everything clicks, where it finally feels comfortable, where the effort starts to decrease.


But that is not actually how this works.


If your workout truly got easier, it would mean one of two things. Either you stopped progressing, or you stopped challenging yourself. Neither of those is the goal. The goal is not ease. The goal is adaptation.


As you get stronger, your body becomes capable of more. More control, more

resistance, more time under tension, more precision. And with that comes a new

level of demand. The movements evolve. The expectations shift. The standard

rises with you.


So no, it does not get easier. It changes. What used to feel impossible becomes something you can move through with control. What once took all of your focus becomes more familiar. But instead of staying there, you are met with the next level. A deeper hold. A slower tempo. A more intentional challenge.


That is where the real work happens.


Because strength is not built by repeating what is comfortable until it feels easy. It is built by consistently meeting yourself at the edge of what you can do and choosing to stay there long enough to grow.


And if I am being honest, I would be more concerned if it did feel easy. An easy workout does not ask anything of you. It does not require focus, discipline, or presence. It does not push you to understand your body differently or to move with more control. Most people are not here for easy. They are here because they want to feel stronger, more capable, and more connected to what their body can actually do.


That does not come from comfort. It comes from challenge that is intentional. At BARE, the work is designed to meet you exactly where you are, and then take you just beyond it. It is slow for a reason. It is controlled for a reason. It asks you to stay in it, even when it starts to shake, even when it would be easier to come out of it.


Not to break you, but to build you.


So if you are waiting for the moment it all feels easy, you might be waiting for the wrong thing.


The better question is not when will this get easier.


It is, did you come here for easy, or did you come here to change?
